Corn was in season while I was in Japan. This reminds me that last year when I visited the south, I was served a serving of corn as seasonal vegetable. I mean just corn! Couldn't they have said "corn" instead of "seasonal vegetable"???

I saw these a lot in Japan. Literally all over the place. I didn't know this was one of the Japanese evergreen trees. Its fruits are edible, very sweet and juicy. It's called "Biwa " in Japan. I feel I'm in Asia when I see this tree in town.

Mr Martini and I went to East Side for dinner. We hardly come to this area (no particular reason!). It reminds me of the Upper West Side years ago. It's really nice. UWS has gotten too family-oriented and lost the character in a sense. For long time New Yorkers, it's a bit sad.

Anyway, the dinner was good, the price was reasonable. We had a very nice time.

Just like Forest Gump!

We went to buy some shrimps and fish. I didn't realize we'd literally go to the harbor and buy fish and shrimps they just caught!! I'm too used to going to supermarket to get "fresh" fish. It can't get fresher than this.

Fruit Parfait (Summer)

One thing I look forward to, when I visit Japan is the desserts especially parfait!!
They always have seasonal fruits and fresh whipped cream. Simply amazing, eh?

Since my doc put me on a strict diet, I've tried to become a vegan. Well, according to my doctor, I'm not supposed to have a choice. I have to be vegetarian.

Not eating meat is OK, I can deal with. But not eating dairy is really hard for cheese and ice cream lover like myself.

I got Soy Ice Cream (Green Tea flavor) and Rice Milk Ice Cream (Strawberry flavor) at Whole Foods. They are super sweet and NOT creamy (obviously)! There is no way these can be substitutes for my ice cream craving.
