It's interesting to visit other countries so I can see different kind of flowers blooming.

I saw these a lot in Japan. Literally all over the place. I didn't know this was one of the Japanese evergreen trees. Its fruits are edible, very sweet and juicy. It's called "Biwa " in Japan. I feel I'm in Asia when I see this tree in town.

There are many kinds of flowers I find in Japan that I don't see here in the U.S.

At the same time, when I see the same flower looking completely different, I get fascinated as well!!

I just noticed that these pictures (taken with Casio) have better color than the other pictures I have taken with SONY. ooooh.

In Japan this flower has a terrible name, "Bimbo Gusa" which is more commonly used - although its official name is "Himejion". It literally means the poor grass. I believe it came from the petals looking rather flimsy.

Having "Eastern" in its English name, I always thought this flower originated in Japan (or any other Asian countries for that matter). Actually it was imported from the US over a hundred years ago.

Japanese Iris (Iris Japonica)

Actually this picture was taken last year (May '07) by the river where my parents live. I don't know the name again. It's quite pathetic for someone who loves taking flower pictures, not knowing any names. Is this some kind of Japanese iris? I know other Japanese irises that are much bigger. It's hard to tell from this picture but this flower is very, very small.
